GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Sow fava bean seeds directly in well-drained soil during cooler temperatures of early spring or fall. Plant seeds 1-2 inches deep and 4-6 inches apart, in rows spaced 18-24 inches apart. Ensure soil remains consistently moist for optimal germination.

Once seedlings emerge, thin them to maintain proper spacing. Fava beans prefer full to partial sun exposure. If starting indoors, transplant seedlings after the last frost, hardening them off gradually by exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week.

Fava beans require regular watering, especially during dry spells. Harvest beans when pods are plump and seeds are visible through the pod. Enjoy them fresh or cooked, adding a nutty flavor to various dishes. Succession planting can extend the harvest season.
