GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Sow Laurentian Rutabaga seeds directly in the garden as soon as the soil is workable in early spring. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows spaced 18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 4 inches apart once they reach 2 inches tall.

To germinate, ensure consistent moisture and a soil temperature of around 50-60°F. As seedlings grow, gradually thin them and keep the soil free from weeds. Transplanting is not recommended as rutabagas prefer to grow undisturbed.

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture but avoid waterlogging. Harvest after the first heavy frost for the sweetest flavor. Store in a cool, dry place to maintain freshness. Enjoy in a variety of hearty winter dishes.
