GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Start Cape Gooseberry seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Sow seeds in pots or trays filled with a seed-starting mix, covering them lightly with soil. Maintain a stable temperature of around 70°F and provide 14-16 hours of light daily to encourage germination.

Once seedlings have developed their second set of leaves, they can be transplanted into larger pots. Harden off the plants by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week before transplanting them into the garden. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil, and space plants about 24 inches apart.

Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every few weeks. Cape Gooseberries are ready to harvest when their husks dry and begin to split, revealing the golden fruit inside. Enjoy fresh, or use in jams and sauces.
