  • Spread: 60–90 cm (24–36 in) when grown on the ground; more vertical when trellised

Choosing a packet size

  • The 50-seed packet is ideal for home gardeners and small beds or patio trellises. It provides enough for a family patch with a few succession sowings or to share with a neighbor.
  • The 12.5 g packet suits community gardens and small market growers. It’s ample for several trellised rows and staggered plantings to keep jars filled through the season.
  • The 125 g packet is great for larger gardens, CSAs, or dedicated pickling plots. It supports multiple long rows and successive sowings for continuous harvests.
  • The 500 g packet is best for commercial growers and large-scale plantings. Choose this for multi-acre trellis systems or high-volume pickle production.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Sow cucumber seeds outdoors after the last frost date, placing them in well-drained soil under full sun. Space seeds 12 inches apart in rows 4 feet apart. For an earlier start, sow indoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost in biodegradable pots.

Germination typically occurs within 7-10 days at temperatures around 72°F. Once seedlings have a few true leaves, transplant them outdoors, ensuring to harden them off by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week.

Support the vines with a trellis to save space and improve air circulation. Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Harvest cucumbers when they reach 2 inches for pickling or up to 6 inches for slicing. Enjoy your homegrown crunchy pickles!
